Iraq’s government, installed during the long, bloody US military campaign there, is in full retreat before an al-Qaida offensive. Half a million people have been driven from their homes in recent days–almost the same number as Palestinian refugees from a two-year war in 1948-49. The US offensive in Iraq pretty much created that al-Qaida branch, so there are dots to connect. Yet my friend @nancyayoussef finds that Congress doesn’t care.
Much better to concentrate on bogus issues like Benghazi and Bergdahl. That’s easier politics than a proper soul-search over the Iraq disaster. Afghanistan will be next.
