Gasoline shortage in Cairo–again

They’re lining up for gas in Cairo again. Happens all the time. Problems include heavy subsidies, distribution snafus, inadequate infrastructure. The worst problem is the subsidies–makes fuel cheap, encourages smuggling, distorts the economy. This article and photo from Al-Masry Al-Youm tell today’s story and show the overall state of affairs–the horse-drawn wagon doesn’t need the gas to run, does it…the fuel will probably be resold or smuggled out of Egypt.
